About Us

Childcare provision to support soldiers and families within Dalton barracks.

Our Story

We were established in 1993 by a dedicated service mother who identified the need for childcare provision to support soldiers and families within Dalton Barracks.
Yvonne arrived in 1996 to take up the position of Nursery Manager and has been at the setting ever since. Under Yvonne’s leadership the numbers steadily grew resulting in the proud opening of additional facilities in 2011.
We now have about 80 registered children and 18 staff – a mixture of full or part time.
We believe our outstanding childcare, our understanding of military life and our flexibility remain at the heart of our success.
Dalton Pre-School Nursery is a registered charity and is run by the Nursery Manager Yvonne, under the guidance of a committee and three Trustees. The Trustees give their time and expertise voluntarily.

What Our Families are Saying

The Baby Room

Our Daughter Grace started Dalton Barracks nursery in Feb 2018. Me and my wife were worried and apprehensive about her starting so young as she was only 8 months old and our first child, but we couldn’t have been more wrong.

From day one she settled in straight away. The girls are amazing and Grace has formed great binds with them all.

The nursery never stops entertaining Grace throughout the day from painting, playing instruments, singing songs, boogie beats and walks around the camp. The list is endless. Not to mention the extra cuddles if she’s having an ‘off’ day. The nursery is one of a kind.

As we all know it’s hard being in the military and working full time, but they make it so much easier for us to know Grace is ok and settled with such a great routine. Our baby has come on leaps and bounds. We will be sad when it’s our time to leave as I don’t think we will find another nursery quite like this one.

Nursery Room

Dalton Pre-School Nursery has been the best so far.

Making my transition to work from maternity leave very easy, and even now, 2 years on, they continue to provide the very best for my son.

The staff are very kind, caring and friendly and do their best to help all the parents as well as the children.

Thank you.

I just want to say thank you for the amazing updates you provide. Due to work I don’t get to see Florence as much as I would like during the week so your detailed updates are a great way for me to find out what Florence has been learning and doing.

Florence loves Pre-School and she has developed an unbelievable amount recently. This is all down to your hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and encouragement.

You are doing an amazing job and I thank you so much for the caring and loving way you look after our special little girl.
